Fading this brightly coloured tattoo required only 3 laser treatments to allow for new, coloured artistry to go over the top. The final decision as to how much fading is required lies with the client’s tattoo artist.
Increasingly tattoo artists are realising the benefits of fading a tattoo before attempting a cover-up. It allows them more freedom to design something that the client would like, without the restriction of having to fit it in and around old artwork.
Much depends on the depth of ink and the colours which are going over the top but often I have only had to provide 1 laser treatment to a client for their tattooist to be happy to start to cover up.
